Combined Healthcare NHS Trust and North Staffs GP Federation jointly appoint Director of Strategy and Development

North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust and the North Staffordshire GP Federation are delighted to announce the joint appointment of Andrew Hughes as Director of Strategy and Development, following a national search for an exceptional candidate.

This is a fixed term post and is a joint appointment between the Trust and the North Staffordshire GP Federation, made up of 83 practices across the Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire area covering 500,000 patients.

The joint appointment is a strong tangible demonstration of the partnership being developed between the two organisations as part of a wider strategy to transform and develop integrated and partnership working between providers of primary care, community and hospital services - from GP practices and staff working in the community to clinicians on hospital wards - throughout North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

Andrew previously supported the Trust as its Interim Director of Strategy, and brings a wealth of experience from across the wider NHS. He has served both as an Executive and Non-Executive Director for a number of NHS organisations across Staffordshire and the West Midlands. His track record of leadership and partnership gives him credibility and support from partners, staff and clinicians and further strengthens the health and care alliances being developed across the area. He is also a Trustee of the Teenage Cancer Trust, Chair of Partners in Paediatrics - a Midlands-wide organisation bringing together providers and commissioners of services for children, a Fellow of Chartered Management Institute and the Institute of Leadership and Management and also a member of the Institute of Directors.

Commenting on his new post, Andrew today said: "I am delighted to be returning to an organisation with which I learnt so much a couple of years ago and look forward to resuming my relationships and successful partnerships with my work colleagues and partners across our area on behalf of the people of North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

"This is a particularly exciting time, given the developing partnership between the Trust and the North Staffordshire GP Federation. The joint vision of both organisations to deliver breakthrough services and support across primary, community and hospital care in our area is something that both excites me and will provide a hugely enjoyable challenge."
