Our latest Combinations Podcast features Lorraine, Vice Chair of the Parkinson’s Social Club, and Elke Henson, specialist neuro-psychiatry nurse, talking about the disease, how it affects people and the work the club does to support local people with Parkinsons.
Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition, which causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time. The number of people diagnosed with Parkinson’s in the UK is about 145,000 – around 1 adult in every 350.
Parkinson’s UK maintains that having Parkinson’s can feel overwhelming if people don’t have the right information and support.
The Parkinson’s Social Club – which meets every Wednesday in the Red Street Community Centre, 62 Talke Road, Newcastle under Lyme, ST5 7AH, aims to meet this need.
